Home Project

I am  challenging you to design and make a habitat for a minibeast you would like to observe. You will need to research the type of things your minibeast likes in its habitat. A frog will need something different to a butterfly. Ask your grown-up to help you out.

Note to parents: This is something which I hope you will find as fun as the children. Ask the children to talk about and make plans for their habitat. Parents you can help them then label any pictures, and help write a list what they need. Children can use a variety of media to record what happens and what they want to record – draw pictures, take photographs, create a scrapbook or poster. Thank you once again for taking the time to support your child’s learning, but most of all enjoy it and have FUN!

Questions you could ask.

How does a butterfly eat?

How does a bee make honey?

Does a spider have the same amount of legs as a beetle?

Are all ladybirds red?

How do bees fly?

What is a spider’s favourite food?

Do frogs eat the same things as tadpoles?

What other questions could you ask?

Are there other minibeasts that you would like to find out about?
