This morning children and staff took a blustery walk to St Mark’s Church for our annual Advent service. We sang, prayed an lit the four candles on our advent wreath to remind us of the patriarchs; the prophets; John the Baptist and Mary.

Each child and adult wrote their name on a paper strip and we joined all of these together to  make a prayer chain. This was to remind us that God cares about each one of us and knows us by name.

Later in the service, Reverend David asked us to take a parcel tag and write the name of someone that we know that might be sad this Christmas. We then placed each of our special parcel tags on and around the Prayer Tree.

At the end of our service we prayed together for the world to live in peace; for those who have no food or presents and for those who are lonely. Each prayer was specially written by one of our Year 6 children. See their prayers below:

Peace – Angelo

Heavenly Father,

We are lucky we live in a peaceful and friendly environment at st Mark’s.

Please help us to remember the ones in the world who won’t have a joyful Christmas and are suffering.

We must remember that we are lucky to go to a good, friendly school where we are all treated equally.

We hope that everyone can live a peaceful and happy life.

Amen

Presents- Taisa

Heavenly Father,

We thank you for all the presents we receive and all the food we eat.

Please bless those who are less fortunate than us.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen

Family-Jemel

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for letting us celebrate Christmas with our family.

We pray for those who are lonely and have no-one to celebrate with.

Please bless the people who are less fortunate than us.

Amen

Finally Reverend David closed with a blessing and the Lord’s Prayer.
