The gardens at school are showing the very first signs of spring, bulbs are bursting through the cold ground, snowdrops are first and they will be quickly followed by daffodils.

Now is the time to place your competition daffodils somewhere bright if you haven’t already, maybe a windowsill, a balcony or in the garden so that they can flower.

The birds are scouting for suitable nesting sites. As there isn’t much natural food around for them in Winter you can help them greatly if you put some food out for them and don’t forget they also like a drink of water. Tasty treats for the birds include sunflower hearts and mealworms sold in pet shops and pound shops.

If you are looking for something to do, check out the RSPB’s website and take part in the Big Garden Birdwatch between the 29th – 31st January https://www.rspb.org.uk/get-involved/activities/birdwatch/

See you in the garden soon,

Caroline
