Important information regarding free school meals
Free School Meals have always been a priority for Islington Council. That’s why we are delighted to be able to step in this holiday half-term and ensure there is provision for families in the borough who are eligible for free school meals under the national benefits criteria.
We will work with schools after the half-term to retrospectively provide food vouchers. This will support the families’ food budget, by reimbursing families for the additional food costs incurred during half term when pupils were not in school.
We are working on the details of how schools can order the vouchers and receive this additional funding. The aim is to use the same processes as during lockdown to minimise the additional school administration required. Further information will be issued and available for schools by when you return on Monday 2 November.
