Well done Year 5. What a brilliant assembly, fabulous singing, acting and information about the Second World War.

We now know how the war started and who the Allied and Axis powers were. We learned about what life was like for a child in the War and what it was like to be an evacuee. Did you know that 3.5 million children were evacuated from the cities to the countryside?

Here the children are re-enacting how children were separated from their parents and how they were selected by their new carers.

The children explained how soldiers were recruited and trained. They imparted their knowledge of the rationing of food and clothes.

Such fabulous songs too, ‘A long way to Tipperary’, ‘ Pack up Your Troubles in an Old Kit Bag’ and the unforgettable solos and class performance of the wartime classic ‘We’ll Meet Again’. And the pièce de résistance- war drumming. Bravo Comrades! Fantastic learning Jet Class, we are so proud of you all!
