This week, we are very pleased to welcome Selwyn as Priest-in-Charge at St Mark’s Church. Selwyn, who is married to Nicola and has two children, brings a real warmth and heart for people, shaped by his upbringing in Guyana and his journey of faith after moving to the UK at sixteen.
Before becoming a priest, Selwyn worked as a primary school teacher, alongside studying theology and training within the Church of England. This shared background in education gives us a special connection, and we are especially excited about the partnership between church and school continuing to grow. Selwyn’s love of community, hospitality, and service shines through, and we know these values will enrich both the church and our school family.
Many of you will start to see Selwyn at the school gate and around the school. He has already visited twice, spending time with the children and meeting some parents, and we know he is looking forward to getting to know many more of you in the weeks ahead.
It was also a joy to be part of his installation celebration on Sunday—a truly lovely and uplifting occasion that brought everyone together. It was a wonderful way to begin this new chapter and to warmly welcome Selwyn and his family into the community.
As a school, we are delighted about his appointment and really look forward to working closely with him. We are excited for all that we can share and build together, and we warmly welcome Selwyn and his family to St Mark’s.
