Today, our Year 6 pupils joined children from across the Deanery for the annual Leavers’ Service at St Mary’s, Upper Street. It was a truly special occasion, bringing together pupils from all seven schools as they prepare to take the next big step in their journey.
The focus of this year’s service was the inspiring message: “Be strong, for the Lord your God is with you.” Through prayer, song, and reflection, the children were reminded of the strength and guidance they carry with them as they move on to secondary school. It was heartwarming to see so many young people united in faith, celebration, and hopeful anticipation.
We were delighted to be joined by members of the clergy who led us in worship, and it was a real honour to welcome the new Mayor of Islington, whose encouraging words gave the children an extra boost of confidence for the future.
Throughout the service, there was a wonderful sense of unity and excitement. Many of the children began to spot familiar faces from schools they’ll be attending in September – early signs of new friendships already forming.
It was a joyful, uplifting event, and a memorable way to mark the beginning of this next chapter for our Year 6 pupils.
