Hi Onyx, this week we celebrated Martin Luther King Jr day.

We looked at some of the courageous non-violent acts, MLK completed in order to fight for equality for Black people, and his vision of creating a world where his children would be judged by the content of their character, and not the colour of their skin.

Our learning concept this half term is, ‘Life and Learning, The power of the written word.’ We discussed how the written word allows us as people to communicate with each other, and considered how the power of the written word facilitated MLK to share his message.

Martin Luther King Jr had a dream…please share some of the interesting facts you have learned about MLK, and his contributions. Consider how the power of the written word helped to facilitate him on his mission, and share his dream with the world.

Martin Luther King jr was a man who was helping Black people get equal rights. As time went on, people loved MLK and they followed him and his speech 250,000 people joined and watched him and they took his advice on equal rights for black people. if it was not for the written word, we would not known MLK and things today would be way different than if we did not know Martin Luther King.

Martin Luther King jr was a man who changed the world by creating change. He delivered a speech that says,” I have a dream that my four children will be judged by the content of their character not by the colour of their skin”. Our lives would be very different if the power of the written word did not exist and there would be no equal rights for anyone. I am very thankful for Martin Luther King Jr and his speech because who knows what the world would be like if the power of the written word never existed at all.

  6. During our lessons about Martin Luther King jr I learnt that he went to prison 29 times. These were all due to him trying to stand up for black people and equality for them. The power of the written word helped him as he very much followed Jesus’ way of living.
